One of the main objectives of ICOLP 2020 is to continue to work toward promoting Indo-Pacific research on ocean-related law and policy by introducing latest trends, developments, and challenges in the field of ocean law and policy while addressing the theme “Policy, Law, Economy, and Insurance of Offshore Wind Power Energy.”

*Given the Covid-19 Pandemic situation, the Conference 2020 might turn to an online virtual Conference for foreign speakers.

About the theme –Policy, Law, Economy, and Insurance of Offshore Wind Power Energy

The importance of the development of offshore wind power energy was made abundantly clear when the industry boosts in recent years. Taiwan government has announced its goal to make renewable energy become 20% of total electric power supply in 2025 and Taiwan is fully developing offshore wind power farms in Taiwan strait.

Countries in the Indo-Pacific region, such as Japan, South Korea, Singapore, also consider offshore wind power energy as alternative energy in facing the challenges of global warming. Also, India has announced its offshore wind power policy in 2013. Finally, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia are considered as the potential countries in developing offshore wind power energy.

However, the development of offshore wind power cannot be risk-free. Related issues, such as maritime engineering, maritime special planning, insurance, technology transfer, foreign investment, etc., has already triggered heated discussions between government agencies, industries, and academia.

Therefore, 2020ICOLP invites you to submit relevant research papers and exchange views and recommendations for the development of offshore wind power energy with participants and audiences.
