The "Basic Ocean Act," promulgated and enacted on November 20, 2010, included "promoting regional and international marine affairs cooperation" as one of its legislative purposes, and Article 5 stated: "The government shall respect the principles of history, sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction, and actively participate in regional and international cooperation related to marine affairs, maintaining, developing and sustainably sharing marine resources on the basis of peace, reciprocity, and ensuring our national marine rights and interests."
In order to accomplish this objective and aid in the implementation of the "overall planning, deliberation, coordination, and implementation for harmonizing its relevant domestic laws with the international maritime conventions, and of international cooperation," as stated in the " Organization Act of the Ocean Affairs Council," I t is important to increase comprehension of international conventions pertaining to the ocean. On the morning of February 6, 2019, the "National Legalization of Convention on the Law of the Sea and International Case Study and Compilation Promotion Plan" project concluded negotiations and the award of bids, and was implemented the same day. Prior to December 10, 2010, the "Results Report" was submitted, which included hosted workshops, seminars, and other related tasks.
